Kalexiko Sponsor ‘Taylor Transport International’ Shortlisted for MITM Awards

Last Thursday, Kalexiko attended one of the most recognised manufacturing events of the year, the 2015 Made in the Midlands Awards, held at Austin Court in Birmingham.


With the West Midlands recognised as the centre of regeneration and a power house of manufacturing expertise, we had the opportunity to meet many talented nominees. Hearing many success stories from other members, we also listened to guest speaker, Professor Morley’s incredible and inspiring journey in manufacturing within the car industry. You may have seen Kevin Morley on Channel 4’s Secret Millionaires. A man who started his career with Ford in 1977 and went onto receive 11 promotions throughout his 9 years, before joining the Rover Car Group and subsequently a director to several companies.


One of the shortlisted companies, Taylors Transport International, sponsored by Kalexiko, also have a growing success story. With their fleet of vehicles growing in excess of 300 over the last year, they also have an investment of 50 trailers and 20 tractor units. Taylors Transport’s recent warehouse expansion worth over £120,000 has seen them hire three new Senior Managers, three office staff and two apprentices, with £15,000 investment in training programmes.


The 2015 MITM Award went to Shropshire based company, GWR Fasteners Ltd. With an international client base and existing portfolio of awards, the company forecast a 74% increase in turnover for 2015/16 and have already increased orders by 30% through online marketing, namely SEO and social media. Their unique innovative technique for colouring stainless steel – GWR Colourfast, features washers, bolts and screws in bright metallic colours. Kalexiko would like to congratulate Jude on her immense success; her heart touching speech was felt by all.


The Women in Engineering Award went to Odin Engineering. Emily Barker has continued her father’s business, growing it from strength to strength. Reaching new heights, whilst reinstating ISO 9001 and expansion in Delhi, India.


Another incredible achievement, The Young Inventor Award was won by Matt Smith and Chris Cahill.
