Five techniques for creative thinking
If you’re ever stuck for a new idea or you don’t know how to move things forward, here are a few techniques from the creative minds at Kalexiko. 1. Positive/ negative thinking With this you imagine the worst possible thing or scenario. For example, if you’re designing a website, you think of a truly horrible website; really the worst you can think of in every way. You populate it with lots of detail and have fun thinking about how truly unpleasant and useless it could be. Then you envisage and create the complete opposite. 2. Push the possibilities Ask a …
This is the most amazing time and place to be alive
It is 2012 and we live in a world where we are surrounded by limitless possibilities. We now have the ability to connect with people and communicate in ways that just a few years ago were unimaginable. A world of information is at our finger tips and we control it. Think about it, at any given point you can become a photographer, designer, artist, business owner, author, political activists, researcher, musician – or just about anything else you want to be. Only a handful of years ago, pretty much all the activities on the list below were either impossible or …

Hopefully you’ve all been good boys and girls; we’d like to think we have at Kalexiko. Here are a few awesome things that we think everyone who’s into technology should have on their list. In loving sweet memory of apple legend Steve Jobs.
It’s with great sadness at Kalexiko that we learn of the death of Apple mastermind Steve Jobs after having suffered a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 56. An inspirational businessman and technology advocate, his influence can be found in nearly every household, workplace and playground, at every bus stop, in every gym and in almost every public space in the UK. The products he helped create changed the face of technology; from the first Apple computers in the 1970s up to the latest iPhone 4S launched just this week. Under his stewardship Apple delivered powerful yet aesthetically pleasing …
Ten things Kalexiko love about Birmingham
The Kalexiko HQ is located just to the east of Birmingham’s dynamic city centre. We love it here and we’d like to share with you a few of our favourite things. 1. Shopping Birmingham’s Bullring centre is number one for shopping. Highlights here include the retail heavyweights Selfridges and Debenhams but there’s also lots of familiar high street names and some smaller, specialist boutiques. 2. More shopping! When we’ve explored all the fashion options in the Bullring, there’s always The Mailbox. Opened in 2000, The Mailbox is one of those rare things; a big chunk of modern architecture where the …
No ‘off the shelf’ studio for Kalexiko
When it became time to relocate into a bigger and better workspace, a straightforward office move was simply not good enough for Kalexiko. Following significant expansion in recent years, we found that we had outgrown our former premises. We started looking for a new Birmingham home and, although we knew we wanted to remain in the city centre, we also knew that simply finding an empty office and moving our equipment in was not going to be enough. We wanted a unique, inspiring space that would not only be a great place to work but one that would reflect our …
Why have a corporate blog?
We’ve always been very reluctant to integrate a blog into our website, as it’s a huge commitment (with high maintenance). There’ so many websites with a blog that are rarely updated and contain seriously old news. Creating a company blog is easy and straightforward, however keeping it engaging and interactive for users is difficult. Below are the core reasons we decided to include a blog into our website; Keeping our existing clients in the loop We are currently working on many exciting projects with several clients across the globe and became in need of a ‘dumping ground’ for simple posts …
